ABSTRACT

Hard work and Technology achieves success only when it meets every stratum of people. From the GPS tracking device, hope this paper is the first to introduce the GSM device for tracking the theft vehicles, which would be the cheapest source of vehicle tracking anti-theft system.
It is a small kit that consists of a GSM module and several other components. This system can be operated easily by a GSM device and it is done by sending a SMS to the device connected the automobile. The switching ON is done by using a simple SMS, which in turn instructs the microcontroller to turn OFF the vehicle, receive information about the vehicle’s current location or more.
Once this is done, the microcontroller stimulates the GSM module to forward the details of the nearest Base Station to the owner’s mobile via text message.
The microcontroller which receives the delivery messages through the GSM module evaluates the time gap between successive messages to determine the exact location of the vehicle in a given area.

INTRODUCTION

The main aim of this project is to develop an automotive security system to disable an automobile and its key auto systems through remote control when it is stolen. It hence deters thieves from committing the theft.

Here, we make a modest attempt to design & develop a simple, low cost vehicle theft control scheme using an inbuilt microcontroller. This scheme involves a microcontroller & a mobile for the communication purposes.
Tracking of the stolen vehicle can be done through GPS. Once the position of the stolen vehicle is found out using the GPS, a location request is sent back to the central processing system, which takes care of the event to be performed using remote control functions.
Control functions of the tracking system allow us to perform many functions such as to engine stopping & starting, automatic position reporting based on time or distance etc.

Existing system:

An immobiliser or immobilizer is an electronic device fitted to an automobile which prevents the engine from running unless the correct key (or other token) is present. This prevents the car from being "hot wired" after entry has been achieved.
The microcircuit inside the key is activated by a small electromagnetic field which induces current to flow inside the key body, which in turn broadcasts a unique binary code which is read by the automobile's ECU. When the ECU determines that the coded key is both current and valid, the ECU activates the fuel-injection sequence.
In some vehicles, attempts to use an unauthorized or "non-sequenced" key cause the vehicle to activate a timed no-start condition and in some highly advanced systems, even use satellite or mobile phone communication to alert a security firm that an unauthorized attempt was made to code a key.

ELECTRONIC VEHICLE IDENTIICATION

Electronic Vehicle Identification (EVI) is a system that uniquely identifies a vehicle electronically. More specifically it can be defined as an electronic device that allows the unique, remote and reliable communication of identifying parameters of a vehicle .It would typically comprise a secure in-vehicle data storage element, suitable and secure interfaces and a vehicle-to-infrastructure data communication element. EVI can be used for many application such as crime prevention (prevention vehicle theft),

Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, or MEMS, is a technology that in its most general form can be defined as miniaturized mechanical and electro-mechanical elements (i.e., devices and structures) that are made using the techniques of microfabrication. The critical physical dimensions of MEMS devices can vary from well below one micron on the lower end of the dimensional spectrum, all the way to several millimeters. Likewise, the types of MEMS devices can vary from relatively simple structures having no moving elements, to extremely complex electromechanical systems with multiple moving elements under the control of integrated microelectronics. The one main criterion of MEMS is that there are at least some elements having some sort of mechanical functionality whether or not these elements can move. The term used to define MEMS varies in different parts of the world. In the United States they are predominantly called MEMS, while in some other parts of the world they are called “Microsystems Technology” or “micromachined devices”.

ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER (ADC):

The ADC0808, ADC0809 data acquisition component is a monolithic CMOS device with an 8-bit analog-to-digital converter, 8-channel multiplexer and microprocessor compatible control logic. The 8-bit A/D converter uses successive approximation as the conversion technique. The converter features a high impedance chopper stabilized comparator, a 256R voltage divider with analog switch tree and a successive approximation register. The 8-channel multiplexer can directly access any of 8-single-ended analog signals. The device eliminates the need for external zero and full-scale adjustments. Easy interfacing to microprocessors is provided by the latched and decoded multiplexer address inputs and latched TTL TRI-STATE outputs. The design of the ADC0808, ADC0809 has been optimized by incorporating the most desirable aspects of several A/D conversion techniques. The ADC0808, ADC0809 offers high speed, high accuracy, minimal temperature dependence, excellent long-term accuracy and repeatability, and consumes minimal power. These features make this device ideally suited to applications from process and machine control to consumer and automotive applications
