This document focuses practical implementation of android in attendance management of a student. Attendance Management System is an application developed for daily student attendance in schools, colleges and institutes. It facilitates to access the attendance information of a particular student in a particular class.
This project deals with the attendance management by an application developed using Android OS. This project helps to reduce the tedious and the tiresome work of entering the attendance manually to the systems and then calculating the percentage. This helps reducing the paperwork i.e. taking the attendance in the slip books and entering them into the system manually. This deals with development of an Android application, i.e. the application source code is written in the XML file and is run in the eclipse IDE which is a platform that runs the android applications. The data of the students is stored in the database which is linked to the application such that the attendance process becomes a very easy one, without any complications
Android is a software package for the mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the java programming language.
DESCRIPTION ABOUT PROJECT
This project uses the component ‘activity’ and linking them together. An activity presents a visual user interface for one focused endeavor the user can undertake. The activity may consist of the list of items, list of buttons, text fields etc. for example, a text messaging activity that shows a list of contacts to send messages to, a second activity to write the message to the chosen contact, and other activities to review old messages or change settings. Each one is implemented as a subclass of the Activity base class.
An application might consist of just one activity or, like the text messaging application just mentioned, it may contain several. What the activities are, and how many there are depends on the application and the design. Typically one of the activities is marked as the first one that should be presented to the user when the application is launched.
Loading the XML resource
When the application is compiled, each XML layout file is compiled into a View resource. You should load the layout resource from your application code, in your Activity.onCreate () callback implementation. Do so by calling the setContentView (), passing it the reference to your layout resource in the form of: R.layout.layout_file_name
Any View object ma have an integer ID associated with it, to uniquely identify the view within the tree. When the application is compiled, this ID is reference as an integer, but the DI is typically assigned in the layout XML file as a string
